Watch this video of Sharon's Prep and Race! On October 10, 2009, Sharon Schmidt-Mongrain raced in the Ford Ironman World Championship. Though she had raced in 5 Half-Ironman distance races, this would be her first at the 140.6 mile distance. The 6 months leading up to the race included many early mornings and late nights training while working a full time job. Her training paid off... as she finished the swim in 1:05, the bike in 5:42, and the run in 3:34... earning a 9th place finish in her age group, 15th place overall female, and 50th overall female including pros. Just 4 weeks later, she raced in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Watch Sharon's video below

Must Viewing!!! written by RoadKill, January 18, 2010
This video should be a required viewing for all Wanderers. And you do not have to be an elite athlete to benefit from this tape. Even as a complete piker, I got goose bumps. Now, I am not going to be putting in 4,000 miles in my training in the upcoming year. But I certainly could put quite a bit more time on the bike and in the pool. By the way, Sharon's swimming was really impressive. I like most Wanderers could substitute the word sinking for swimming. But Sharon was really moving. I think we can all be inspired by Sharon's Ironman performance. And, Christian, great video!!
